Stinson Beach is host to all the fun outdoor activities you can imagine. From biking and surfing to hiking and bird watching, the area is a fun place to explore.  Here are some of our favorite things to do in and around Stinson Beach:

  • Explore Muir Woods National Monument.  A classic stop on the way from San Francisco to Stinson Beach is this wonderful National Monument.  While it can be crowded, it is worth it if you are in town on a weekday.  Get a taste of the Northern California terrain and get lost amongst the redwood trees. Muir Woods is by Reservation Only.  If this is on your agenda, please plan ahead.
  • Take in the view in Mount Tamalpais State Park.  Mt. Tam sits above Stinson Beach and, on a clear day, provides views of San Francisco, Marin, and the Pacific Ocean.  You can opt to take the scenic drive up to the top of the mountains or even ride your bike.  Either way, you will not be sorry.
  • Take a hike on one of many trails in the area. Check out a map here. We highly recommend the Dipsea Trail or the Coastal View Trail.  These trails are not for the faint of heart as they do ascend the mountain.
  • Check out a local restaurant.  Our favorites include the Parkside Cafe and Snack Bar and the Sand Dollar Restaurant.
  • Take a drive up the beautiful Highway 1 to Point Reyes Station.  A cute little town that is host to the amazing Bovine Bakery (try their Morning Bun) and the delicious Cowgirl Creamery.
  • Check out the amazing Point Reyes Lighthouse The drive itself is beautiful, but you cannot beat the views of and from the lighthouse itself.
